About My Journey

Art Is Forever

I began my watercolor journey back in 1998 when I just had to get out of the house for some “me” time. I had three small children at the time and was homeschooling 2 of them (the youngest was a baby). A friend had suggested I try a watercolor class, so I bought some supplies and timidly went to class every week.

I had always been drawn to the art of the masters (Monet, VanGogh) and to the magic of color. How a ‘certain’ color would make me feel a ‘certain’ way was fascinating howeverI never thought I could become an artist since I hadn’t attended art school!

A whole new world was opened up to me that year. I found that I actually did have the skills and more importantly, the drive to learn and create. I became a regular in this class for my remaining 10 years in Michigan.

A whole new world was opened up to me that year. I found that I actually did have the skills and more importantly, the drive to learn and create. I became a regular in this class for my remaining 10 years in Michigan.

As I developed as an artist and an art instructor, I began to really start feeling a deep sense of joy and satisfaction. The art I was creating was (and still is) unique to my own experiences and dreams. I tried several different media during this exploration phase but always came back to my favorite, watercolor.

I started an Etsy shop in 2015 when my hand-painted cards began to be in demand. The Etsy market is pretty well saturated with watercolor artists which made it difficult to be found. Thankfully, a few faithful collectors have stuck with me through the years and with their encouragement and that of my family’s support, I continued to create new pieces regularly.

My journey as an art instructor took off at this time as well. I was teaching students from age 5 to 80. I developed elementary level curriculum and honed my skills in the process. I knew that I wanted to become a “Fine Art” artist and also knew that the only thing stopping me was my mindset.

"The only thing stopping me was my mindset..."

As an artist with unique ideas I wanted to come to a place in my journey where what I was creating intersected with what consumers want to collect.

Today I am enjoying the processes of creating and teaching in order to bring color and creativity to others! I offer original watercolor paintings, prints of those paintings, hand-painted cards, printed notecards (designed from my originals) and unique acrylic pour paintings.

I teach online watercolor classes including: Beginning Techniques, Journaling, and Live Classes.

By providing others with the ability to explore the magic of color through collection of my art pieces or through their own development as artists, I am reaching a fuller sense of who I’m meant to be as an artist and human.
