Watermelon Sugar Tulips

This tulip painting is a tribute to all the hard work I do on my knees each fall—planting over 300 bulbs in my garden!

I wanted to paint it larger than life so that I could explore the intricacies of the petals and of the shadows cast by the early spring sun that day.
