Juried Shows

During this down time from teaching, I am working hard at getting paintings ready for juried art show submissions.

What that means is that I’m doing a lot of second-guessing about the objective quality of my artwork. This is both helpful and, well, rough.

In February I submitted my work to be a vendor at my hometown’s Art Festival and was rejected. I was accepted to that same event last year so this was a blow to the ego to say the least!

I recently heard a respected artist say “if you’re not getting rejected then you aren’t submitting to enough shows”. SO TRUE!

So, I’m doing my best at this moment with the goal that next year’s best will be even better!

As Matisse is credited for saying: Creativity takes courage.
