Van Gogh in America

This is not a watercolor related post but I wanted to tell you about the exhibit that I saw during my recent visit to Michigan.

The Detroit Institute of Art currently has Van Gogh in America and let me tell you, it was awesome!

From their website:

See Van Gogh in Detroit with the exhibition Van Gogh in America, which celebrates the Detroit Institute of Art’s status as the first public museum in the United States to purchase a painting by Vincent van Gogh, his Self-Portrait (1887). On the 100th anniversary of its acquisition, experience 74 authentic Van Gogh works from around the world and discover the fascinating story of America’s introduction to this iconic artist, in an exhibition only at the DIA

While this exhibit did not include my favorite pieces by Vincent, it has so many paintings and drawings that I had never seen before.

If you happen to live or visit the Detroit area before Jan. 22, 2023, take a few hours and see this beautiful display!

Not a Van Gogh!
